Introduction
Nature is the foundation of human existence, sustaining life through its intricate ecological systems and biodiversity. However, the twenty-first century has witnessed unprecedented environmental challenges, including climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, deforestation, depletion of natural resources, and increasing frequency of floods, droughts, earthquakes, landslides, and other natural disasters. These ecological crises threaten not only environmental sustainability but also human health, economic development, and social well-being. The urgency of these global challenges demands collective action through environmental education, responsible citizenship, and sustainable lifestyles.
Recognizing this need, S. B. Garda College established Sorabji Eco Club which serves as a vibrant platform for promoting environmental consciousness, sustainability, and active student participation. It seeks to nurture environmentally responsible citizens by integrating knowledge with action and encouraging students to become agents of positive environmental change within the campus and the wider community.
The Eco Club is envisioned in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which advocates experiential learning, environmental awareness, value-based education, community engagement, and the development of responsible global citizens. It also supports UNESCO's Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) for 2030, which empowers learners with the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes necessary to address global environmental challenges and contribute towards sustainable development.
Through awareness campaigns, conservation initiatives, hands-on environmental activities, and community outreach programmes, the Eco Club aims to cultivate ecological literacy, environmental ethics, and sustainable lifestyles among students. It strives to transform awareness into action by encouraging every learner to become an informed, responsible, and compassionate steward of nature.
Objectives:

• To promote environmental awareness and ecological literacy among students.
• To inculcate values of environmental protection, conservation, and sustainable living.
• To support the objectives of NEP 2020 through experiential learning, community engagement, and environmental education.
• To encourage responsible consumption and resource conservation in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals.
• To promote biodiversity conservation through tree plantation, herbal gardens, and protection of native species.
• To encourage water conservation through rainwater harvesting and efficient water-use practices.
• To develop a plastic-free, clean, and green campus through awareness campaigns and behavioural change.
• To promote waste segregation, composting, recycling, and circular economy practices.
• To cultivate leadership, teamwork, and environmental responsibility through student-led initiatives.
• To foster collaboration with government agencies, NGOs, local communities, and environmental organizations for sustainable development.

• Tree plantation drives with emphasis on indigenous and native species.
• Campus cleanliness and community cleanliness campaigns.
• Plastic-free campus initiatives and "Say No to Single-Use Plastic" campaigns.
