It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to the official website of S. B. Garda College (Arts) & P. K. Patel College of Commerce, Navsari—an institution deeply committed to academic excellence, value-based education, and holistic development.
Today, in 2026, our institution proudly celebrates 81 years of glorious existence. Founded in 1945 through the noble vision and philanthropic generosity of Shri Sorabji Burjorji Garda, who donated Rs. 2,00,000/-, this institution stands as a pioneer of higher learning in the South Gujarat region. Our founding principle remains sacred: to impart quality education to all students without any distinction of caste, creed, or nationality.
Our first Principal, Prof. A. K. Trivedi, proudly chose a motto that remains permanently etched into our hearts: "EXCELSIOR" — Higher and Higher.
A Journey of Growth and Academic Expansion
S. B. Garda College holds the pride of place as the first institution in South Gujarat to offer the widest range of subjects. Our rich history reflects a steady, dedicated timeline of institutional expansion:
• 1945–1952: Established core departments in Gujarati, Sanskrit, Persian, Economics, Science, English, Logic, Psychology, Hindi, History, and Political Science.
• 1948: Renamed S. B. Garda College Arts & B. P. Baria Science Institute following a generous donation from Shri Burjorji Pestonji Baria.
• 1965: Following a donation by the sons of Shri Paragji Kuverji Patel, the Commerce Faculty was established. The science wing bifurcated, leading to our present name.
• Post-Graduate Milestones: We successfully established PG centers in History (1985), Gujarati (1987), Accountancy (1992), and Psychology(2023).
Today, at the undergraduate level, we offer seven core subjects alongside a comprehensive selection of elective, compulsory, and interdisciplinary choices.
Embracing the Future and Legacy
In this rapidly transforming educational landscape, we actively align ourselves with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. We promote multidisciplinary learning, skill development, digital literacy, and student-centric education. By integrating modern digital platforms and Artificial Intelligence (AI) into our academic ecosystem, we focus on experiential learning, flexibility, and entrepreneurship.
Our true legacy is measured by our impact on society. Over the last 81 years, we have produced eminent principals, professors, industrialists, writers, journalists, M.L.A.s, and M.P.s who bring glory to their Alma Mater. Beyond the classroom, we foster holistic development through stellar achievements in sports, cultural activities, and dedicated NSS and NCC units.
